Report Writer

When developing a Gensol Application the analyst creates reports, standard letters, etc. using the built-in report writer 'Gensol Reports'. So when the application is deployed the users need not invest in expensive third party products. Users may then easily customize the reports or add new ones as required. The effect is to empower the user to gain 'Access to Data' with high performing reports that may be tightly integrated with a process or may be free-standing or run in a batch.

Gensol Reports is a product designed to support change. When you use a Gensol Application you have password/security access to these built-in design tools.

The Report Preview window employs the same user interface standards as are used throughout the Gensol Application. For example, the filter and sort facilities used in running the report are the same devices as those used in the Enquire List, Codes Used Management and Selection List windows.

The report may be viewed on screen or exported to a file. It may be sent to a printer or you could send it as a pdf file attachment to an email message:

Gensol Reports does not require any third party software to create the pdf file ... so there are no extra hidden costs!

And since the Report Preview window behaves in just the same way as the other Gensol Application windows, even with respect to the user-defined filter and sort criteria, it is very easy to use.

The Gensol Reports Reference Manual is built into each application as a pdf file that may be printed off or in an abridged form for on-screen help. In addition, a one-day workshop is available. This is sufficient to advance the typical user to be able to amend the existing reports, whether they are simple or complex, and to create quite complex new reports.
